What is Biophilic Design?

Biophilic Design D2D

Biophilic Design is a concept derived from ‘Biophilia’ which essentially means the love for all living things.

Biophilic design is about bringing the outside natural elements into your workplace to create a happy, relaxed and healthy workplace environment.  It has been proven that the positive effects of natural environments that mimic nature have a great impact on overall health and well-being.

Incorporating natural materials into our design has it’s benefits:

 A visual connection

 Natural Light

 Natural Materials

 Thermal Comfort

 Acoustic Comfort

Green walls can remove up to 87% of toxins in the air within a 24 hour period. They can break down the toxins in the air to purify and release oxygen at a much higher rate than a single living plant alone.

Science speaks for itself , there are a number of beneficial therapeutic aspects in creating office spaces with a strong element of Biophilic design. Not only do studies show people feel instinctively more relaxed and calm around greenery but it has great positive impact on our physical and mental health and well-being. This leads to better productivity of work and efficiency of staff within working office environments.

Incorporating Biophilic design may well be the future of our solution to create a happier, healthier safer environment for us to live in.
